Know the signs
Good prongs vs. prongs that need attention
Prongs are the small metal claws that hold your stone. They wear down slowly from everyday life, so problems are hard to spot until a stone goes missing.
Healthy
Even, rounded tips that fold snugly over the edge of the stone. No gaps, no wiggle.
Worn thin
Tips flattened from daily wear and barely covering the stone. Retipping restores them.
Bent or lifted
A prong snagged on a sweater or bumped on a counter pulls away and leaves a gap.
Broken or missing
A snapped prong lets the stone shift or rattle. Stop wearing it and bring it in right away.

How often
Every six months for pieces you wear daily
Engagement rings, wedding bands and everyday earrings take the most wear. A quick visit twice a year keeps them bright and helps catch a loose stone before it’s lost.
If your jewelry is covered under our Preferred Warranty, a 6-month inspection & cleaning is required to maintain your warranty. See our Preferred Warranty page for full details.
Gentle care for delicate stones
Some gems are porous, treated or sensitive to heat and vibration, so we clean them by hand instead of in an ultrasonic machine.
